Crochet Watch Gloves Pattern

Skill Level
This might be considered a more advanced beginner or intermediate pattern, but it really isn’t that difficult. The most challenging part would have to be the watch, which includes a magic circle.
Techniques Used
Double crochet
Single Crochet
Slip stitch
Chain
Magic Circle
Colour changes
Construction
The gloves are worked vertically, then sewn together along the length. I have chosen to switch colours after each row, and to make this easier I carry the non-working yarn throughout the entire row. Once the gloves are done, we’ll start with the watch face working in the round, then make the band. Once everything is done, we’ll attach on side off the band to the watch, then sew the watch onto the glove, and finally the other end of the band to the watch.
Notes
This pattern is written in American Terms
The turning chain (ch 1 or ch 2) does not count as a st.
If you are doing a striped glove like I have, I recommend carrying your yarn throughout to change at the end of each row, rather than fastening off and reattaching as that will create a lot of ends to weave in.
Materials
I used an aran weight yarn in black and white with a 5mm hook, and DK yarn in grey, white, and black with a 3.75mm hook. You will also need a measuring tape, darning needle, and stitch markers.
Stitches and Abbreviations (US terms)
blo – back loop only
Ch – chain
Dc – double crochet
St – stitch
Sc – single crochet
Inc – increase (sc 2 sts into one st)
Sl st – slip stitch
Mc – magic circle
YO – Yarn over
Gauge swatch
In blo dc
4″ = appx 15 sts, 7 rows.
Changing colours
I have chosen to change colours after each row. To change colours – on your las st of the row yarn over, and insert your hook, YO and pull through. You will have 3 loops on your hook. YO and pull through 2, then YO with the new colour and pull through the remaining 2 loops.
Let’s get started!
Gloves – Aran weight yarn and 5mm hook.
To start, ch 32.
Row 1: Starting in the 3rd ch from the hook, dc into each ch across. If doing stripes, switch colours in the last st. You will have 30 sts. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: Dc in the blo in each st across. Ch 2 turn.
Rows 3 – 12: Repeat row 2. One you have completed row 12 (or desired width), ch 1.
Fold the panel in half, so that the beginning chain lines up along the last row. To join, hold your yarn underneath, insert your hook into the ch (underneath the first dc of the first row), then into the front loop from your last row. Yarn over and sl st to join.
Crochet the end and beginning rows together for 18 sts total, or until length needed. Then sl st 6 on only one side to create the thumb opening, then continue to join for the remaining 6 sts. Fasten off and weave in ends, then repeat for second glove.
Watch – DK weight yarn and 3.75mm hook
Watch face
Start with a magic circle, using the white yarn. These rows are worked in the round, with no turning ch. Simply continue in the same direction.
Round 1: Sc 6 into the magic circle, then tighten.
Round 2: Increase (sc 2) in each st. You will have 12 sts.
Round 3: *Sc, inc. Repeat from * 5 more times. You will have 18 sts. Change to Grey yarn
Row 4: *Sc, sc, inc. Repeat from * 5 more times. You will have 24 sts. Fasten off
For the hands, thread your black yarn into the darning needle. Coming from the back of the watch, insert the needle into the middle to the front, and pull so you have a long enough thread for both hands. Pick a point on the watch (literally any) and insert your needle towards the back, then pick another point and bring your needle in from the back to the front, then back from the front to the back through the middle. Then weave in all your ends.
Watch Band
To start, ch 4.
Row 1: Starting in the second ch from the hook, sc into each ch across. You will have 3 sts. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1 turn,
Row 3 – 38: Repeat row 2, or until long enough to fit around your glove and attach on each end of the watch face.
Weave in ends, and sew one end of the band to the bottom of the face. Then, I’d advice trying on the glove to see where you would like to watch to sit. You can either count the stitches and rows, or insert a st marker. Remove the glove and sew the watch face only onto the glove. Once that is complete, sew the other end of the band onto the top of the face.
